Since 1993, 34 CTAs and one First Nations self-administered police service have been established. More than 132 RCMP officers are involved in the CTAs. First Nations with CTAs must have police management boards that provide advice to the RCMP about policing in the community. Training for police management boards is provided in partnership between the FSIN, Ministry of Corrections, Public Safety and Policing, the RCMP and the Aboriginal Policing Directorate of Public Safety and Emergency Preparedness Canada.
