Training and Education Course Descriptions - FederalEmergency Operations Centre Management (EOC)Course Objective The objective is to enable the participant to work as a member of the emergency operations centre team, that manages the emergency response for the overall municipality. Course Description The intent of the training course is to prepare emergency management practitioners to carry out their role as members of an Emergency Operations Centre team. The EOC Management Course trains participants to effectively manage and coordinate the overall operations within their communities, while also providing the necessary support to the site management team during a multi-service response to an emergency. Course participants will apply the course concepts in simulated emergency situations. Target Population The course is intended for senior level emergency management practitioners who have a decision-making role in the EOC. Course offerings are available for large (Collegeville) and small (Grandville) communities. Applicants must confirm that their community size/resource level is consistent with the course offering and demonstrate their emergency role as it relates to the course objective. Prerequisites Candidates must have completed the Basic Emergency Preparedness course or its provincial/territorial equivalent and must have a decision-making role in an Emergency Operations Centre that requires the training provided by this course. Emergency Site Management (ESM)Course Objective The objective is to enable the participant to work as a member of the emergency site team that manages a multi-service/jurisdictional response at an emergency site. Course Description The intent of the training course is to prepare emergency management practitioners to carry out their role as members of an emergency site team. In an emergency situation, new relationships must be established quickly between various community organizations, outside agencies, volunteers, and other entities from various levels of government who might not normally work together. The course material covers the principles of the Emergency Site Management System, including a co-ordinated multi-service/jurisdictional response at an emergency site. Course participants apply the course concepts in complex simulated emergency situations. Target Population The course is intended for senior level emergency management practitioners who have a key decision-making role as a member of the emergency site team. Applicants must demonstrate their emergency role as it relates to the course objective. Prerequisites This is an advanced level course. Candidates must have completed the Basic Emergency Preparedness course or its provincial/territorial equivalent. Candidates must have a decision-making role on an emergency site management team that requires the training provided by this course. |
