Did You Know To meet the government's commitment to fight organized crime in Saskatchewan, the 2008-09 Budget provides new funding for nine police officers who will focus on conducting investigations into street gangs. Community Operations Saskatchewan Impaired Driver Treatment Program (IDTP)The Saskatchewan Impaired Driver Treatment Program provides intervention for persons convicted of a second or subsequent drinking and driving offence, with a goal of reducing repeat incidents of drinking and driving. The program provides a voluntary 14 day residential alcoholism treatment program option in Prince Albert for impaired drivers convicted of a second or subsequent offence, and subject to mandatory imprisonment. The program also provides a six month follow-up period of supervision by Addiction Services within Health Districts. Corrections and Public Safety provides reports on impaired drivers to assist the court in sentencing, and makes recommendations regarding those persons whom may benefit from treatment at the IDTP.
