![]() Did You Know $4.7 million in grants to the Fishing Lake and Waldsea Lake communities will assist with flood protection for property that was damaged from high water levels during spring flooding in 2007. Building Standards Information Services ProgramBuilding Standards staff advise and inform people who are affected by the requirements of the building and accessibility standards. They provide interpretations, gather and distribute information, and improve public awareness of building safety requirements. Activities are targeted to meet the needs for local authorities, builders, owners, and designers to gain a better understanding of building and accessibility standards and the requirements of the legislation. Building Standards staff attend, participate in, and make presentations at meetings and conferences to groups who are affected by the standards. By facilitating communication between clients, Building Standards staff encourage development of effective solutions for common problems. The Building Officials Newsletter is prepared and distributed to building officials and other interested parties four times a year. Information about activities in other provinces and at the National Research Council, as well as activities within Saskatchewan, are shared in this format. Building Standards maintains an up-to-date library of standards referenced by the National Building Code. Other related reference material, standards, and publications are also collected. |
