In 2008-09, Corrections, Public Safety and Policing will establish specialized in-facility treatment units to deal with substance abuse among inmates.

Building Standards staff are responsible for:

  • managing The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Act and its regulations.
  • overseeing adoption of the National Building Code of Canada through The Uniform Building and Accessibility Standards Regulations and The Building and Accessibility Standards Administration Regulations.
  • reviewing Acts and regulations that have an impact on building standards to ensure they reflect national standards and accommodate innovations in products, materials, and construction methods.
  • liaising with other provincial departments and agencies that set construction and occupancy standards.
  • participating in the Provincial/Territorial Committee on Building Standards and national standards writing organizations.
  • undertaking consultations with National Building Code users in Saskatchewan.
