Construction to replace the oldest part of the Regina Provincial Correctional Centre (RPCC) continues on schedule with plans for the facility to be operational in Fall 2008.

Buildings Standards oversees provincial standards for building construction. It monitors and updates legislation and regulations, assists owners, designers, and builders in complying with these requirements; issues building official licences; and, provides administrative and technical support for the Saskatchewan Building and Accessibility Standards Appeal Board.

Fire Commissioner's Office in accordance with The Fire Prevention Act, 1992, and Regulations, provides Saskatchewan communities, fire departments, and emergency service organizations with programs and services that protect people, property and the environment from fire. 

The role of this unit is to strengthen emergency management across the provincial government and to link with other jurisdictions for support. It also includes the Provincial Disaster Assistance Program (PDAP), which provides financial assistance to eligible claimants located in a municipality that has been designated eligible for assistance as a result of a substantial loss or damage to uninsurable, essential property caused by a natural disaster.
This unit works with communities to build their public safety capacity, including education, training and public awareness; and support and management to the Sask911 call-taking initiative to bring province-wide access to 9-1-1 emergency telephoning calling.
